A writer for the New York Times interviewed a series of people who had survived jumping off the golden gate bridge. Every person she interviewed admitted that about two thirds of the way down, they realized that every seemingly meaningless problem that caused them to jump was fixable.

Every single one.

this gave me chills.

A lot of the photos that I thought turned out the best were the ones that I had taken by accident. I was walking back to Union Station, and had to wait for the walk sign to come on again. On top were stairs leading to the Tube, and coincidentally, a solitary man walking up the stairs. I loved the feel of it, and while the scenery has a lot of objects in it, I don’t feel that it is cluttered, because your eye is automatically drawn to the man. He is framed by the white lights on top of him, and the dark stairs that he is walking on. I chose to make it black and white because while the color photo was more vivacious, I felt that it was better to see sort of a silhouette of the man, rather than the clothes he was wearing, and what he looked like. In effect, the man in the photo represents the silence and darkness amid a world of chaos and color.
